Birth Name: Charles Victor Szasz
Current Name: Vic Sage
Codename: The Question
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Red / Black (with mask on)
Height: 6'2"
Weight: Approx. 182 lbs.
Appearance: Usually, the Question will be seen as a man in a suit and trenchcoat wearing a fedora and gloves -- all worn and battered -- and seen as a completely faceless man with absolutely no features save for jet black hair on his scalp. He has a bad posture, hunched over typically, his head tilted just so faintly to suggest his already infamous mental instability. His voice is low, murmuring, and off-kilter, like a chill and hissing softly. He is a very, very unnerving man.
Background: Born in Hub City, Charles Victor Szasz only knows a few things when he was an infant. As a baby, he was left on the steps of a church, battered and cut and bruised. All his life, he has never known who his parents were. At first, he never cared to know, though that curiosty has begun to form. Regardless, as a child, he was growing up in the church which had developed into an orphanage. Other children bullied him, the nuns abused him, and he never got along with any potential foster parent. Essentially, this brought Charles to run away from the church when he was fourteen. He raised himself on the terrible crumbling streets of Hub City.
In high school, his classmates considered him a monster, uncaring and angry and violent. In college, he was given LSD and beat the person who had given him something that caused him to "not tell what was real", one of his fears never knowing reality. He'd gone to school with the now famous Lois Lane and had a distant crush on her. One of his only companions from college had been his professor, Aristotle Rodor -- but this did not prevent Charles from dropping out.
He became a sensational TV journalist, changing his name to Vic Sage, setting himself apart from his useless birth name that told him nothing about himself, as if his new one would do it for him. It was on a story that he had a hard time investigating that Professor Rodor gave him a mask composed of pseudoderm -- a material made to act as fake skin. Using a saffron colored gas to bond the mask to his face temporarily, Vic Sage became the Question to undo the corruption in the city.
But it would be Hub that would corrupt him in such ways.
During his time as the Question, he has had a variety of team-ups, normally with the Blue Beetle and at times with the Batman when he was in Gotham. However, his violent nature was his undoing, allowing Lady Shiva to take him down and be shot in the head. She saw something inspirational in the Question, though -- so she revived him and took him to learn under Richard Dragon. This would teach him to better control his temper and violence. This would give him philosophy.
This would only be temporary.
Hub City's madness has become the Question's. He is known for his insanity, his paranoia, his violence -- what sets him apart from other detectives, moreover the most famous in this time the Batman. Typically, he walks the streets of Hub, muttering to himself, to do justice as he could to a city that even the Feds have given up on. Even if it means the death of those who deliver these crimes.
